Coming to Luminato this spring! I saw Robert Lepage’s The Image Mill last summer in Quebec City, and I can’t wait to make a day out of Lipsynch. Lepage does monumental like no other.

From the Luminato press release:

Robert Lepage’s nine-hour multimedia epic weaves together the stories of nine interconnected lives over the span of 70 years. In this groundbreaking work, co-commissioned by Luminato, Lepage complements the visual spectacle that is a hallmark of his staging with an exploration of the sound of the human voice. The performance lasts approximately nine hours including four intermissions and one extended meal break.

I suppose that details of the screening are still to come.

I saw Lipsynch in Toronto (in one sitting); and it changed my life at some important level; as if it took a small piece of my heart and brain and replaced it with better bits. Really.
I’d give my eyetooth to see this somewhere else – away from home.
In New York or even Montreal (not Ottawa. Sorry, too boring a City – I kinda fall asleep when I drive into the City limits.)
I will follow his work – and this has now made me realize that live theatre is indispensable to life. If one were to live it fully.

I saw the Lipsynch 3 days event during the week & have to say it was beyond brilliant. I didn’t think it was possible to keep a story going so long, but the intertwined events were done so well this could in theory play a different show every night indefinitely and have them all connected in spirit. But then I guess that would be called life. :-)

BTW to Nelum Vila. I live in Ottawa, and saw the Blue Dragon @ the NAC. Maybe you don’t know where to go :-)
