I didn’t expect my post about the Town Hall Meeting to gain as much traction as it did. I feel it would be wrong to go back and pacify some of my statements, particularly as I continue to stand by them.

However, to be fair, I haven’t given enough credit to those who stood up, amassed supporters and made a strong effort to propose moves to ameliorate these funding cuts. So to the Department of Culture, its founders, members and supporters, I thank you.

I sincerely hope that I haven’t offended anyone, or anyone’s efforts, with my article. I am a member of the Toronto arts community, and I stand by my colleagues and peers in their desire to see a leadership change in Canada. And I know that this desire comes not merely out of the news of recent cuts, but was born the day Harper was elected.

I should also state clearly that while I take responsibility for my opposing views, I admit that I don’t have a better, more plausible solution — just a more lofty, idealistic one. Which is hardly helpful.

Thanks for reading.
